Ashleigh has put in the work to have not only an amazing eye for design, but also an amazing ear for what people need. We’d just made the decision to stay in our house rather than move to create financial room to pursue a career change, and I was struggling with how to refresh a living room dominated by dark brown (floors, couches, leather ottoman, window trim). She asked thoughtful questions and ultimately recommended that the space needed more warmth rather than less, which would never have occurred to me. More importantly, she walked me through why she recommended that approach, empowering me to be an informed participant in the design process. From there, she came back to me with links to several area rugs recommendations to re-ground the space in a new palate, in a range of styles but all clustered around a great price point. Once I picked one, she identified a new wall color (palest pink) that, again, would never have occurred to me, but is perfect. With the addition of some new throw pillows, a textured throw blanket and a small side table, the room feels totally refreshed, and for a price that I would have exceeded buying even one new couch. Oh, did I mention I live in Indiana and so she did all this remotely? Ashleigh made the process seamless, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic with the outcome.

Ashleigh Underwood is a delight to work with! She is professional and very responsive to the needs of the job. Her ability to communicate in a timely and knowledgeable manner is a definite strong suit! Ashleigh has a great understanding of the construction world and works well to make the project come together. As a general contractor, scheduling and knowing what is expected from homeowners can be a challenge, but with Ashleigh as the designer it was seamless! (Did I mention she is a great designer?) I've known Ashleigh since "at the school bus stop" was a place you met people. First we shared a back fence, then weekly sleepovers, then travels to visit Ashleigh's family in Maine and the USVI. But never clothes, damn her Amazonian genes. And then we fell out of touch for the better part of 15 years. When we reconnected as adults, my introspective, imaginative childhood friend was still very much present, though leavened with the experiences -- both positive and difficult -- of globe-crossing relocations and the friends and loves come and gone with them. She has put in the work, y'all, to have not only an amazing eye for design, but also an amazing ear for what people need. And it's rooted in her hard-fought reflections on what she herself needs to be her best self. I work in sports, so the value of a coach is evident to me: everyone from pee-wee players just starting out to the most elite athletes in the world have coaches. Sometimes they teach the basics; other times they're thought partners on long-term strategy. Beyond the structure and clear win-loss outcomes of sports, the need for coaches somehow gets squishier, and voicing a desire for one can end up feeling like an admission of defeat. But it's not. Ashleigh makes me better, not because she's better than me -- because she wants to see me succeed. And so she asks me questions that don't occur to me, holds up mirrors I forget existed. But I still can't wear her clothes, confound it all."

I had such a great experience with Ashleigh Underwood Home & Interior Design. She was very communicative, transparent, and kept me informed during the whole home and kitchen renovation process. I really appreciated her questions and explanation of certain materials she used so I understood how choosing the right materials would actually benefit my house. Ashleigh knows how to fully optimize a home and make it aesthetically pleasing but also functional as well. The fact that Ashleigh was able to handle the project management of the construction and design of my remodel made this a really stress free experience for me. She met with me, listened to my ideas, designed the new layout from a new kitchen island to new cabinets, chose all the light fixtures, materials, and everything I needed to turn my vision into reality. My newly renovated house is everything I expected and more. Ashleigh’s eye for design made everything come together into such an modern and cool way.
